Begin exploring more of the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie coast by taking off over the ever-expanding Newcastle city, Honeysuckle drive and out into Newcastle’s harbour.
On this tour you’ll pass by all of Newcastles’s eight beaches, redhead bluff and Glenrock State and follow the rugged coastline down to Australia’s largest saltwater lagoon, Lake Macquarie.
From here you can see Belmont township, Blacksmiths beach and the ever changing colours from the sand Islands of the magnificent Swansea Channel.
Skip across the lake to the locally renowned Pulbah Island and over to Warners Bay before grabbing a peek at the protected habitats and wildlife of Blackbutt Reserve and the Shortland Wetlands.
Here you can get a overall view of the city as the pilot points out McDonald Jones Stadium – the home of the Newcastle Knights & Jets – and the John Hunter Hospital.
